New Library System

Exciting changes are coming to the library in June 2025! The University Libraries (along with all academic libraries in Ohio) will be moving to a new library system this summer.
What is a library system?
The library system includes the online catalog which provides access to library resources including e-books and e-journals, articles, physical books, media, and more. It also controls day-to-day library operations such as checking out materials, and cataloging, ordering, and receiving library resources. The library system generates the underlying data that drives business decisions and reporting.
What’s changing?
The stand-alone library catalog will be retired in June 2025. In its place will be a new QuickSearch product that searches all library resources for Wright State and OhioLINK including articles, books, e-books, journals, e-journals, media, and more.
The eJournals search will be replaced with a new product which provides access to Wright State and OhioLINK e-journals.
What are the benefits?
- The new library system will enable one-stop-searching for Wright State and OhioLINK resources; users will no longer need to search both the Wright State catalog and the OhioLINK catalog separately
- Interlibrary loan will be integrated in the new library system
- The new system is a secure, stable, cloud-based system, and is the most-used library software in academic libraries internationally
- This library system was purchased through OhioLINK capital funding with no implementation costs for Wright State; ongoing costs are commensurate with our current library system costs
Important dates
March 28, 2025: The University Libraries will suspend ordering and processing new materials until the new system goes live in June.
May 23, 2025: OhioLINK borrowing/lending will be suspended until the new system goes live in June. SearchOhio borrowing/lending will be suspended until late Fall 2025.
May 30, 2025: Last day to request materials in the current University Libraries catalog
June 18, 2025: Wright State’s new library system goes live; ordering and processing of new materials resumes
June 20, 2025: OhioLINK borrowing and lending resumes.
Fall 2025 (date TBD): SearchOhio borrowing and lending resumes.
Information for Faculty
- If you link to materials in the current library catalog, the current library QuickSearch, or current library eJournals list, you will need to update your links after the new library system goes live on June 18, 2025
- Borrowing and lending of Wright State physical materials will continue throughout the migration
- Interlibrary loan will continue throughout the migration
- Course Reserves lending will continue throughout the migration. Please submit summer requests as soon as possible to account for processing delays
What's Not Changing?
Several library resources are not affected by the migration to a new library system. There will be no interruption in the availability of the following resources:
