Welcome to our new Director of Library Engagement and Operations, Tanela Hicks!

We are pleased to welcome Tanela Hicks as the University Libraries’ new Director of Library Engagement and Operations.

Tanela earned her Master of Library and Information Science degree from Kent State University. She brings a varied professional background in public librarianship, technology instruction, audiovisual troubleshooting, staff development, customer service, and information technology.

Before beginning her career in libraries, Tanela spent 15 years working in client services and information technology. She most recently served as Programming Manager for Dayton Metro Library, where she planned and coordinated programming across a multi-location library system, developed community partnerships, supervised programming staff, and established system-wide programming standards. Her work included coordinating the annual Writer and Author Symposium and the Tiny Stacks Music Series.

Tanela looks forward to collaborating with University Libraries colleagues and campus organizations to develop engaging and meaningful events for Wright State students, faculty, and staff.

Outside of her library work, Tanela is a published author and community advocate.

Her experience, creativity, and commitment to community engagement will make her a valued member of the University Libraries team. Welcome, Tanela!
