Discover CORE Scholar: Wright State’s Open-Access Home for Research, Creativity & History

December 10, 2025

At Wright State University, our faculty, students, and staff produce extraordinary scholarship, creative work, as well as preserve historical material. CORE Scholar is where it all comes together. As Wright State’s institutional repository, CORE Scholar collects, preserves, and shares the intellectual and cultural output of our community with a global audience. Think of it as a library without walls: a digital home where scholarship lives, grows, and becomes discoverable to anyone, anywhere.

Why CORE Scholar Matters

CORE Scholar is more than a storage space—it’s a powerful visibility and preservation tool. Items in CORE Scholar are indexed by Google Scholar, the WSU Library catalog, and other academic search engines, helping your work reach broader audiences far beyond campus. With more than 90,000 items downloaded nearly 8 million times worldwide, CORE Scholar raises the profile of our faculty and highlights the important work emerging from every college and department.

Researchers and creators benefit by:

  • Ensuring long-term access to their work with persistent, stable URLs
  • Sharing scholarship openly without paywalls
  • Archiving articles, data sets, presentations, posters, performances, and more
  • Preserving materials when publishers close or change access
  • Increasing citations and readership through search engine optimization

Students also gain opportunities to publish conference posters, capstones, and collaborative research, building early visibility for their academic and professional growth.

How CORE Scholar and Scholar Profiles Work Together

CORE Scholar pairs seamlessly with Wright State’s Scholar Profiles, our Research Information Management System. While CORE Scholar preserves and shares your work, your Scholar Profile becomes your public-facing academic showcase, featuring your publications, activities, awards, professional interests, and more. Together, these systems offer a complete picture of your scholarly identity and impact.  The process of setting up a Scholar Profile is a hands-free experience for our faculty.  All you have to do is let us know you’re interested, and we’ll take it from there.

Contact us at library-coresholar@wright.edu if you have any questions about the repository, or if you’re interested in setting up a Scholar Profile and including your work in the repository.
