Weeks of Welcome (WOW) consisted of six weeks of events, resources, and connections to help Wright State students achieve a sense of belonging and provided valuable information on resources to help them succeed and to connect with other Raiders throughout their academic careers.
The University Libraries were excited to be the venue for the kick-off ceremony on August 19 where President Edwards welcomed our newest Raiders to campus.
The library also offered four WOW events – all of which were well attended.
All current Wright State students were invited to attend Library Game Night on Friday, August 29th from 5:00 p.m.– 8:00 p.m. to celebrate the first week of classes with food, prizes, games, and fun! The event was co-sponsored by the Friends of the Libraries and the TableTop Club. Many thanks to them and to our student and staff volunteers who helped make this a great event.
What better way to show off your school spirit than by decorating your new dorm or home with your own Wright State felt pennant? Students had a great time creating their very own Raider designs with felt, glue, and embellishments. This event was a big hit and was offered in collaboration with Residence Life. Watch the Libraries’ website and social media platforms for more opportunities to create with us during Crafternoon in the the Library!
The Library Scavenger Hunt was an engaging, interactive event designed to encourage students to explore library resources in a fun and educational way. Participants, whether individuals or teams, picked up a worksheet from the circulation desk and solved clues that led them to specific locations or books with in the library. Each clue came with a small task, such as finding a book or answering a trivia question. Once completed, the students turned in their worksheets at the circulation desk and were entered for a raffle prize.
Crafternoon in the Library: Diamond Painting with PALs: On September 16th, Peer Academic Leaders in collaboration with the University Libraries offered a fun afternoon of diamond painting while learning about how to use the library as a resource. Students were encouraged to bring books to diamond paint the covers. All materials were provided along with diamond painting stickers and small sets that students could complete.
We have more great events scheduled throughout the rest of the semester. Check out the library event calendar for more details – and follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIN.
