Disability Assistance

On this page:

General Services

The University Libraries are dedicated to providing inclusive and accessible service to all library users. We have an ongoing partnership with the Office of Disability Services to ensure access to library collections and services for individuals with disabilities.

The Libraries can assist and provide accommodations in the following ways:

  • Research: We provide general research assistance to identify and access reference materials and tools. If you need more in-depth assistance, please make an appointment.
  • Material retrieval: We will retrieve materials from the stacks for users who are unable to reach materials by themselves. Whenever possible we retrieve materials immediately, but at times we may need 24 hours to provide this service.
  • Study rooms: Wright State students, faculty, and staff who require quiet study space may reserve Study Rooms.
  • Document delivery: Library users with disabilities who need assistance with photocopying or with scanning to create accessible electronic versions of library materials may use our interlibrary loan and document delivery service. Contact Interlibrary Loan or call 937-775-2525 prior to initiating your request.
  • Proxy borrower: Library users may identify a proxy borrower who can check out library materials on their behalf.
  • Physical assistance: We continue to remove physical barriers wherever possible. If barriers exist, please notify library staff and we will provide necessary assistance.
  • Completion of forms: We provide assistance to complete library forms at all service points. TTY/TDD telephone services for patrons with hearing impairments is available. We contract with a communication relay service for questions about your library account or for brief reference questions. For TTY/TDD access, call 800-750-0750 or 7-1-1.
  • Personalized service: We provide disability-related accommodations, but individuals are responsible for independently using library resources. If you are a Wright State student who requires personalized assistance, such as personal reading, photocopying, typing, or note-taking, we encourage you to contact the  Office of Disability Services  at 937-775-5680; TTY 937-775-5844.
  • Workshops and presentations: With one week advance notice, we can provide accommodations for workshops and presentations which may include sign language interpreters, large print handouts, or other accommodations to achieve equal access to a library program.

If a service you need from the libraries is not listed or you have questions, stop at any service desk for more information, contact us, or call 937-775-2525.
