How do I find newspaper articles?

Where do I find newspaper articles that are more than 10 years old?

  • Printed Indexes
The Dunbar Library subscribes to two leading newspaper indexes:
    • The New York Times Index (1851-present)
This index can be found in the Index and Abstracts collection on the second floor, north wing. Call number: AI21 .N452

    • The Times Index (1906-present)
This is the index to the London Times, although the title of the index has changed names several times over the years. They can all be found in the Index and Abstracts collection on the second floor, north wing. Call number: AI21 .T35-46

Articles listed in both indexes can be found in the Dunbar Library's microform collection on the second floor in the Current Periodicals room.

  • Browsing in the Ohio Historical Society's local newspaper collection.
Microform copies of newspapers from several local communities are available, including the various Dayton papers dating back to 1850.
