Services to Persons with Disabilities
General Access Services
General Service
We provide general reference service to identify and access reference materials and tools. We generally limit reading and assistance with the use of collections or equipment to five minutes.
If you need more in-depth research assistance, please call 775-2925 (Dunbar Library) or 775-2003 (Fordham Library) to make an appointment.
Materials Retrieval
We pull materials from the stacks for users who are unable to reach materials by themselves. Whenever possible we retrieve materials immediately, but at times we may need twenty-four hours to provide this service. To ensure prompt service contact Circulation at 775-2525 (Dunbar Library) or 775-2003 (Fordham Library) to schedule an appointment.
Physical Assistance
We continue to remove physical barriers whenever possible. If barriers exist, please notify library staff and we will provide necessary assistance.
Completion of Forms
We provide assistance to complete library forms at all service points.
TDD Telephone Services for Patrons with Hearing Impairments
For the hearing impaired, we contract with a communication relay service for questions about your library account or for brief reference questions. For TDD access, call 1-800-750-0750.
Adaptive Equipment
The second floor of Dunbar Library houses several pieces of adaptive technology that may be helpful for individuals with visual impairments or learning disabilities. This equipment is available to all users, but priority is given to Wright State University students. Please note that special arrangements will be made for the use of materials housed at the Fordham Library.
- Large Screen Monitor with ZOOMtext
- JAWS - screen reading software
- Merlin CCTV
- Portable magnifier
- Portable enlarger
There are two workstations with WYNN adaptive software and scanners on the second floor of Dunbar Library. Patrons with disabilities get first priority on these machines. If you use the reading feature of WYNN, there are special headphones available from the Information Desk.
We provide basic instruction and assistance to get you started. Please plan to bring your own assistant, if you require continued support.

Disability Services at 775-5680; TTY 775-5844.
