Interlibrary Loan is one of several alternative methods to obtain research material which is not available on campus or in the Electronic Journal Center. Reference librarians can assist you with finding and printing articles.
Wright State University faculty and staff, emeritus faculty and currently registered Wright State University students. Interlibrary Loan staff will locate and request the item for you. This is a free service for WSU students, faculty and staff.
When you cannot locate an item you need in the Library Catalog or in the OhioLINK system, you may enter an online interlibrary loan request using ILLiad (Interlibrary Loan internet accessible database). Library staff can assist you, if needed.

Materials ordered through Interlibrary Loan arrive on average within 5 days, but may take longer depending on the speed of the lending library.
Providing complete and accurate information on the request form helps reduce processing time. Abbreviations and incomplete or incorrect information on the request form delays the processing of a request. Ask a librarian for assistance.

Other libraries will generally loan material that they circulate to their own patrons. Often excluded are: Textbooks, reference books, course reserve books, rare books, microfilm, dissertations, technical reports or audiovisual material. Individual issues or bound volumes of periodicals are rarely loaned.
Under certain conditions specified in the copyright law of the United States, libraries are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be 'used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.' If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of 'fair use', that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse a copying order if, in its judgement, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
Note that copyright law prohibits the photocopying of a complete book or issue of a periodical. You may view the complete text of the Copyright Law in Title 17 of the U.S. Code.
When requested materials arrive, the Interlibrary Loan staff notifies the requester:
Books and other circulating materials are checked out using your WSU photo ID. Your borrowing privileges in Interlibrary Loan and Circulation are blocked when you have any overdue material. Interlibrary Loan overdue fines and lost book fees are billed through the Circulation Department.
